Welcome to Madison County, OhioMadison County was established on March 1, 1810. It was named in honor of James Madison, the fourth president of the United States, who was in office at the time the county was formed. London is the county seat and home to our library, the Court House and all probate records, land records, and court records, the Health Department and all the birth and death certificates, and the Madison County Historical Society and their records. Visiting:Our library is located inside the London City Office Building at 20 South Walnut Street, London, Ohio, Room #9 in the former London Schools Primary Building. There is plenty of parking at the rear of the building with the entrance along the drive and is handicap accessible. The library is open most Mondays provided the city office building is open. There is a copier and the microfilm scanner can print images or save a copy to your own supplied USB drive. There is a nominal fee for copies. Contact us before your visit to make sure we will be open and will have a volunteer available. Please tell us the name(s) you are researching and we will pull items in preparation for your arrival. Our Collections:We have a large collection of local obituaries, newspapers, family folders, censuses, tax records, plat maps and books. We also have many duplicate records from the courthouse on microfilm. Look through our lists and indexes and drop us an email to find out if we have the information you are looking for.
